Habits that Rest & Awaken

The patterns of our lives reveal us.

Our habits measure us.

Our battles with our habits speak of dreams yet to become real. Mary Oliver

Yes, Mary Oliver, the patterns of my life reveal me. For three decades now, I’ve had a pattern that keeps me on the ground. I work with the people in my neighbourhood to create space for soul-filled quest and community.

As a spiritual guide,
first trained as a minister in the United and Mennonite church, then, for the last 30 years, mentored and inspired by the gathering ways of circle,

I tend and wonder, facilitate and participate, receive and counsel communal and personal habits that rest the inner critic while awakening the beloved within. Habits that tend to our inner landscape and ask, how do we bring our authentic selves into the world?

My habits: they measure me as much as I measure them.

My battles with my habits speak of dreams yet to become real. On many days of every week that pile up into the months that make up these thirty years, I have quenched a thirst for understanding and reflection as I dip in and drink with deep gratitude from the wells of literature, reflection and poetry.

During this time, I have also received mentorship and guidance from the wise ones and traditions as I participate and facilitate spiritual gathering in the ways of circle.

So… Here I am. What do I have to give back?

Like the genetic make-up of a seed showing itself in a flower,  I believe our inner life shows itself in our actions as much as our actions and habits reflect the eternal breadth and capacity of our inner life.

I offer up an invitation to explore the habits that I and others use to cultivate practice through circles, intentions, conversations, books and retreats.

Each exploration reflects the battles I have with my habits which speak of dreams yet to become real.

Here I am. Battling, Dreaming, establishing a new habit. And I invite you in…
